The assignment was for five days in the South Sinai Desert hosted by the Makhad Trust and Travel writer Gail Simon's.

The Makhad Trust was set up to help preserve the culture and traditional way of life of the bedouin of the South Sinai's against the encroaching modern world and the demands of the Egyptian authorities.

Gail and I trekked for two days through the South Sinai's beautiful remote valleys and oases many of which The Makhad Trust restored with the help of the Bedouin tribes and a volunteer work force.
